Tour Itinerary:
Temples – Waterfalls – Remote villages and Karen Hill-tribe camping
Pick up from your hotel in Chiang Mai at 08.00 and transfer by minibus to the tuk tuk base in Mae Wang, about an hour southwest of the city. On arrival, meet your tuk tuk and driver and settle in for the journey ahead. These tuk tuks are specially modified for winding mountain roads, offering extra comfort and scenic views. Bluetooth speakers and a rollback roof add to the experience.
Begin your journey through winding roads and small farming communities, heading toward temples rarely visited by tourists. Enjoy a hearty lunch at a local restaurant before climbing higher into the mountains. Stop for a short trek to a waterfall and visit a tiny Karen village, then continue up hairpin bends to a remote hill-tribe camp. Tents come with mattresses, showers, and toilets for a comfortable night.
In the evening, learn jungle-style cooking over an open fire with your Karen hosts, then sleep under the stars—a true Thailand adventure.
Mountains – Hill-tribe villages – Thai Feast
After breakfast, explore the forest and surrounding area with a local guide before returning to the tuk tuks and heading into the foothills of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. Travel through spectacular scenery on quiet, winding roads for a deeper insight into Thailand, far from the tourist trail. Stop for a late lunch at a roadside restaurant before continuing to the small community of Ban Mae Khlang Luang, your overnight base.
Your lodge is nestled among mountains and rice terraces, offering a serene setting for the second night of your journey. After check-in, explore the village, meet the locals, and enjoy some of the freshest coffee in one of the most unique cafés around. In the evening, gather for a traditional Thai-style BBQ in the rice fields.
Trekking – Waterfalls – Return to Chiang Mai
After breakfast, set off to explore the forests near the village in the foothills of Doi Inthanon. Led by a local guide, the 5 km trek takes you through rich forest habitat to a series of stunning waterfalls. Enjoy lunch at the base of the largest fall, with time to swim in the natural pool below.
After lunch, hike downhill out of the forest and return to the hill-tribe village from the previous night. Then say farewell to your tuk tuk and transfer by private minibus back to Chiang Mai, arriving at your hotel around 16.30.
